Flooding in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Our hearts go out to everyone that has been impacted by the flooding in Cedar Rapids. We were there and the devastation was, and still is, vast. We were not able to help everyone that we would have liked to, but we played a major role in getting over 150 employees back to work.
Advanced Restoration was called to provide emergency flood restoration services at the Weyerhaeuser Plant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa after it was affected by a 2500 year flood. The flood waters in Cedar Rapids were 32’ over the flood plain breaking the previous record by almost 20’! The Weyerhaeuser Box Plant is a 350,000 s.f. facility that produces over 6.5 million sq. yards of cardboard everyday. Every square inch of this plant was approximately 4’ underwater and when the water receded, Advanced Restoration Services was called in to get the plant back on line as quickly as possible.
This was not an easy task when considering the overall size of the job, limited resources due to the widespread damage, the expectations to get up and running so Weyerhaeuser could continue to service their clients, the complexity of restoring all of the industrial equipment affected, and the extreme environmental conditions that came with the flood waters in general.
We quickly assembled our team from across the country, descended upon the plant, and within three weeks had over 80% of the plant back in order so they could come back on line. The Weyerhaeuser Plant was the first plant and first commercial building to come back on line in the City of Cedar Rapids. We were thankful for the opportunity to assist at the Weyerhaeuser Plant and the chance to do our part in helping the City of Cedar Rapids get back to normal.
Thank you and God Bless.
